Orgasm and Ejaculation in Men

Posted on

Oxytocin is one of the most important hormones when it comes to both ejaculation and orgasm in men. In this week’s podcast we are going to speak separately about the two processes. They are, indeed, separate, but often simultaneous processes.

Hormones involved in the process are primarily Oxytocin and testosterone, MSH (melanin stimulating hormone). As men age, all three of these hormones diminish. They are each manufactured in various organs of the body in differing amounts. These hormones work together to stimulate the ejaculatory fluid and expulsion that we call ejaculation. They also need to be present to stimulate orgasm. It is possible though to have orgasm without ejaculatory fluid or process.

As men age, their ability to generate ejaculatory fluids diminishes (without hormone replacement). Yet a man’s ability to experience orgasm is often undiminished and if the men have been open to learning some skill sets, their orgasms are multiple and intense.

The skill set includes the regulation of breathing and the control of the PC muscles through kegel exercises that are the same that women learn to use to regain muscle control after giving birth! Men can practice those exercises to their benefit. The skills of regulated breathing and PC muscle control can prevent premature ejaculation and can allow more control over when and how intensely the man will orgasm.

Older men have to separate their concerns. If their concern is ED then it needs to be addressed directly. (please see our other podcasts dealing with ED). If they are concerned about ejaculatory process or fluid then they should discuss hormone replacement and supplements such as L-Arginine with their doctor. This condition can often be helped with these interventions, which are neither onorous nor overly expensive. Finally if the issue is orgasm and intimacy, men will find that when they are no longer focused on fluid release as the definition of orgasm, that their arousal and release cycles can be more intense and fulfilling.

Women often report that as men age they are more capable of intimacy (as defined by the experience of the woman). This is in part due to the ability of the man to pay attention to the process in order to control the intensity of his orgasmic release and thereby to notice and share more intensely in the experience of his partner that will enhance both their release into orgasm.
